Nabisco - Expired Cheese Nips
I am writing this email to voice a complaint regarding a box of Nabisco Cheese Nips I purchased from a Vons store located at 1820 Ximeno Avenue, Long Beach, California.
The Vons i usually have shopped at have not been selling Cheese Nips very long but since they started Iโve been so happy as I love Nips way better than Cheese Itโs and I can do all my shopping at Vons.
On June 29th my daughter purchased a box of Cheese Nips for me and I was happy. Today, I opened the box and noticed that it was an older box because I know the inside packaging has changed from the silver inside package bag to the clearer plastic package.
Checked the box for date and saw 16OCT198011. Was in shock as this means this box was close to 39 years old. How is this possible? I proceeded to open package to look at product and was concerned.
Based on what these Nips look like they are definitely old and donโt feel it is just an error on package labeling. Photos attached.
I have already contacted Vons to voice my concern as to how this happened and how could a box this old be laying around anywhere. Since Vons hasnโt sold Nips for very long, this means that this box and possibly others has been laying around in some warehouse and was put on the shelves to sell.
This definitely has made me more aware to check expiration dates on anything I purchase.
Please alert someone to check boxes as this could have caused a health problem. The fact that a child could have eaten some and not knowing if anyone could become sick from eating these, but the fact they donโt look normal let along the expiration date on the package causes me great concern.
Reason of review: Bad quality.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.
Nabisco Cons: Quality control.
Location: Long Beach, California

Actually, if you do a bit of research on HOW to read expiration dates, the expiration on that box is October 16 , 2019. That particular code lists the day, month, and last two digits of the year ahead of the batch number.
